Style
Warm minimal
A family home rebuilt around daylight. We removed heavy joinery, lifted the palette to warm whites and oat linen, and planned every room around the two hours of afternoon sun.
The palette is deliberately short: lime-washed walls, oat linen, pale oak and a little blackened steel. Two large canvases anchor the main wall, so the rest of the room can stay quiet.
Side tables in blackened oak were made for the room, and an olive tree by the window does the work a floor lamp would do in most homes. Storage runs along one wall behind flush doors, which keeps the floor clear from the hall to the garden.

01
The brief
The idea behind the space.
The brief was a calm house that could still take three children and a dog. We kept the plan open, used one timber and one stone throughout, and gave each room a single strong piece rather than many small ones.
02
Design and build
How it was made.
Work ran over seven months, with the family living upstairs for most of it. Joinery was made in our workshop and fitted in two visits, and every fabric was tested at home for a fortnight before it was ordered.

03
The result
The finished space.
The living room now reads as one bright space from the hall to the garden doors. Storage is built into the walls, so surfaces stay clear without daily effort.
04
Impact
Six months on, the family uses the ground floor from breakfast to bedtime, and the old formal sitting room, once closed off, has become the room everyone chooses.
